India and Pakistan match always bring joy to the public and money to the media. In any form of the game, whether it’s hockey football boxing tennis badminton even weight lifting, the whole area is packed. Take an example of the Birmingham common wealth game everyone was watching and covering the India and Pakistan games. Javelin Throw, Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal for Pakistan. In his interview, he praised Neeraj Chopra. The Indian superstar champion congratulates the Pakistani javelin gold medalist but the media try to make it controversial. India is way ahead in these formats of games they have more talent than any Asian country that’s why they are third in the world of common wealth games (read the blog on commonwealth games). India and Pakistan live everywhere in the world and from young to old age, everyone adores cricket especially India versus Pakistan. On 28th August I am writing a blog for Indian and Pakistani fans.

Let me give you a complete brief history of the Asia cricket matches.

Establish in 1983 for the betterment of Asian countries. It is scheduled every two years gap between ODI and T20. The first Asia cup was held in 1984 in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates Asian cricket council is in Sharjah. India has refuse to take part 1986 tournament due to strained cricketing relations with Sri Lanka. Pakistan also refused to participate in the 1990–91 tournament due to strained political relations with India and the 1993 tournament was canceled for the same reason. The ACC announced that the tournament would be held biennially from 2009 onwards.

1984 – 1988
The first edition of the Rothmans Asia Cup was held in 1984 in Sharjah, UAE, in The newly formed Asian Cricket Council. The tournament was a round-robin tournament between India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. The first match was between Pakistan and the new ICC member Sri Lanka. India won this tournament with two victories, Sri Lanka was the runners up in the tournament with a single victory over Pakistan, while Pakistan went home without winning any of its two games. India won by 54 runs defeating Pakistan in a low-scoring final at Sharjah Stadium.

1986 Sri Lanka: The Second Edition. India pulled out of the tournament due to soured cricketing relations with Sri Lanka after a controversial series in Sri Lanka the previous year. Bangladesh was included for the first time. Sri Lanka won the tournament beating Pakistan in the final.

1988 (Bangladesh): The third edition, in 1988, the first time a multi-national cricket tournament was held there. In the final, India beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets to win their second Asia Cup. India won their second consecutive Asia Cup encounter against Pakistan by registering a four-wicket win (26 balls to spare) over their rivals.

1990–97 India 1990 – 1991: The fourth edition of Asia Cup, 1993 Asia Cup, 1995 Asia Cup, and 1997 Asia Cup. Pakistan had pulled out of the tournament due to strained political relations with India. India retained the Asia Cup defeating Sri Lanka in the final. In 1993, the tournament was canceled due to strained political relations between India and Pakistan.

1995 Sharjah, UAE: The Fifth Edition, India and Sri Lanka made it to the final by a better run rate than Pakistan as all three teams had equal points after the preliminary round. For the third successive time, India defeated Sri Lanka in the final.

1997 Sri Lanka: The Sixth Edition, Sri Lanka beat India in the final by 8 wickets to win its second Asia Cup.

2000–2010 Bangladesh: The seventh edition in 2000, 2004 Asia Cup, 2008 Asia Cup, and 2010 Asia Cup. Pakistan and Sri Lanka made it to the final while India only won one match against Bangladesh and did not qualify for the final for the first time. In the final, Pakistan beat Sri Lanka to win the Asia Cup for the first time.

2004 Sri Lanka: The eighth edition, there was a change in the tournament format as UAE and Hong Kong were also included for the first time and the tournament was now divided into three stages – the Group Stage, Super Fours, and the final. In the final, Sri Lanka defeated India by 25 runs to win the Asia Cup.

2008 Pakistan: The ninth edition, once again, the format was retained. The tournament started on 24 June 2008. Sri Lanka topped Group A and qualified for the second phase along with Bangladesh. In Group B, India came out on top and entered the Super Fours along with Pakistan in second place. Sri Lanka and India topped the Super Four stage and entered the final. Sri Lanka beat India in the final comfortably winning their fourth Asia Cup.

2010 Sri Lanka: The Tenth Edition, Sri Lanka hosted the Asia Cup for the fourth time. It only featured the four Test playing Asian nations, and seven matches were played in all (including the final). Sri Lanka and India topped the group stages and entered the final. In the final, India beat Sri Lanka comfortably to become champions for the fifth time, winning the tournament for the first time in 15 years.

2012 – 2014 Dhaka, Bangladesh. In the Eleventh Edition, Pakistan and Bangladesh qualified to play in the final. Bangladesh had beaten India and Sri Lanka to book their place in the final for the first time in the history of the tournament. Pakistan beat Bangladesh after a thrilling final over, winning their second Asia Cup.

2014 Bangladesh: The Twelfth Edition, the tournament consisted of five teams with Afghanistan in it for the first time since its inception in 1984. Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final to win the Asia Cup for the fifth time.

2016 Asia Cup Format Changed:
2015: The Asian Cricket Council and the international cricket council (ICC) announced that Asia Cup tournaments will be played two years gap, ODI and T20 format. As a result, the 2016 event was the first tournament in the T20 format and was played between five teams just ahead of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20. The Asian Cricket Council and ICC 2015 announced the format of Asia Cup events from 2016. Asian cricket tournament would be played One Day International and Twenty20 International format. As a result, the 2016 event was the first event played in the T20 format and functioned as a preparatory tournament ahead of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20. It alternates every 2-years between ODI and T20 formats.

2016 Bangladesh: The edition of the Asia Cup tournament was held for the third consecutive time from 24th February to 6th March. The final was held on 6th March 2016. India won the final by beating Bangladesh by 8 wickets.

2018 Asia Cup On 29 October 2015, following the Asian Cricket Council meeting in Singapore, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur stated that the 2018 edition of the tournament would be held in India.

2018 United Arab Emirates: The tournament was moved to due to political tensions between India and Pakistan. India remained champion, retained their title, after beating Bangladesh by three wickets in the final.

2020 Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Asia Cup was first postponed to 2021 with Sri Lanka set to host the event but was later pushed back to 2022 owing to the packed international schedule and the rising COVID cases in Sri Lanka.

India, with seven titles (six ODI and one T20), is the most successful team in the tournament. Sri Lanka is the second most successful team, with five. Sri Lanka has played the most Asia Cups (14) followed by India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh who have played 13 each.

2022 Asia Cup:
Both India and Pakistan are part of Group A in Asia Cup 2022. One more qualifier team will join the group later. In the other group B, there are Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. In the tournament’s opening game, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will square off against each other.

On 21 July 2022, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) informed the ACC that they would not be in a position to host the tournament due to the economic and political crisis in the country. July 2022, the ACC confirmed that the tournament would be played in the United Arab Emirates, with Sri Lanka Cricket serving as the tournament’s host. The fixtures for the tournament were announced.

28th August 2022: The venue of the encounter is Dubai International Cricket Stadium in UAE. India versus Pakistan match of Asia Cup 2022 will take place on August 28 (Sunday). The match will begin at 7:30 PM IST (6 PM local time). Both Asian rivals will seek to dominate each other during the clash. Last time, both the teams faced each other in T20 World Cup 2021 last year in which Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets.

Hardik Pandya: The all-rounder has played 203 T20s so far, scoring 3,565 runs at an average of 29.22. He has also taken 126 wickets at an economy rate of 8.20.

Dinesh Karthik: In 360 T20s, Dinesh Karthik has notched up 6,846 runs at an average of 27.71 runs. He has also registered 32 fifties.

Deepak Hooda: In 166 T20s, Deepak Hooda has scored 2,956 runs, striking at an average of 26.63. The all-rounder has also taken 18 wickets at an economy rate of 7.8.

Ravindra Jadeja: The veteran all-rounder has played 290 matches in the shortest format, and has scored 3,134 runs at an average of 25.68. He has also taken 193 wickets at an economy rate of 7.59.

Arshdeep Singh: The pacer has played 57 matches in the format and scalped 65 wickets, at an economy of 7.8.

Ravichandran Ashwin: Ashwin has played 285 matches, taking 279 wickets at an average of 25.5. The veteran, however, possesses an excellent economy rate of 6.95. The all-rounder has also scored 1,009 runs in the same time.

Yuzvendra Chahal: In 251 T20s, Yuzvendra Chahal has picked 279 wickets at an average of 23.62.

Avesh Khan: In 76 T20s, Avesh has taken 59 wickets, averaging just over 22. He, however, has an economy rate of 8.05.

Ravi Bishnoi: Ravi Bishnoi has picked 77 wickets in 66 matches, averaging just over 23. He also has a decent economy of 7.12.

Cricket fans will be in for a treat when India takes on arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup in Dubai on Sunday. The Asia Cup will also mark the return of Virat Kohli to the Indian side. Kohli, who has struggled to score runs of late, was rested for the white-ball series against West Indies, and also the three ODIs in Zimbabwe. India, however, will miss the services of injured pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, while Mohammed Shami was not considered for selection.

Statistics shows that India has the good chance to win the match.
